Spa at home: Homemade mask to rejuvenate hands

The skin on our hands is super sensitive and thin which means that it needs special care and attention to stay soft and supple.

There are a number of things which can affect our skin’s quality, harsh weather condition, sun exposure, chemicals and physical injuries, whichever the cause, the result is always the same, our hands look worn out and old.

How can we best protect our hands and restore their softness? In this article we’ll show you a 3 different 3-step spa treatments which will rejuvenate your hands and make them look and feel soft and youthful once again. The spa treatments we recommend in today’s article are all composed of three steps, as we already mentioned, preparation step, softening step and hydration step.

The best part about these treatments is that you only need a couple of cheap ingredients to prepare it and your hands will be completely rejuvenated.

Spa treatment 1

Combine 2tbsp of coconut oil, 2tbsp of sea salt and a drop of tea tree essential oil. Rub the mixture onto your hands, gently massaging them all the way from your fingertips to your wrists.

Now you need to prepare an egg yolk mask by mixing 1 egg yolk, 1tsp of olive oil and a couple of drops of lemon juice. Soak your hands in the mixture for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. Finally apply your moisturizer to hydrate your hands and make sure you perform the treatment before going to bed.

Spa treatment 2

Combine lemon juice (1 lemon), a couple of drops of grapefruit essential oil, a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of baking soda. Mix well to combine and apply the mixture on your hands. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes.

Step 2 includes ½ tbsp. of grated orange peel, 1tsp. of sugar, 1tbsp of olive oil and 2tbsp. of ginger powder. Soak an exfoliating brush in the mixture and brush your hands with it gently.

Step 3 includes a mixture of orange juice (1 orange), a pinch of red pepper and 1tsp. sesame oil. Combine all the ingredients and apply the mixture on your hands. Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse with warm water. Apply some almond oil at the end.

Spa treatment 3

Mix a handful of mint leaves with a drizzle of rosemary oil and some warm water. Add 1tbsp. of olive oil and mix to combine. Soak your hands in the mixture for 5 minutes.

Step 2 is exfoliation. Combine 2tbsp. of sugar, 1tbsp. sunflower oil, 1tbsp. of rose water and a pinch of baking soda. Massage your hands with the mixture.

Step 3 is to moisturize the hands. Mix 1tbsp. Vaseline, 2tbsp. of olive oil and 1 grated green apple. Rub the mixture on your hands and leave it on for 10 minutes. Finally rinse with some warm water and apply moisturizer.

Warning: Perform and allergy test before trying any of the abovementioned recipes. Apply a small amount on a patch of skin and see if there’s a reaction in the next few minutes. If there’s no reaction you’re free to use the mixture.
