REASONS WHY YOUR BODY JERKS WHEN YOU’RE TRYING TO SLEEP

We all have very interesting bodies and most of the time, our body informs us when something is wrong. One way our body informs us is by twitching a bit, just before we fall asleep.

Sometimes, when lying down on your mattress and you are about to sleep, a sudden twitching happens to your body and you’re surprised. If you’ve been experiencing this for a while, there’s no need to worry, you’re perfectly okay. Let’s take a look at the reasons why your body jerks before sleep.

The Hypnic Twitch before Falling Asleep

According to scientists, the hypnic twitch makes you feel like you’re falling and this leads to a body twitch. Several scientists have suggested that the hypnic twitch is caused by the consumption of caffeine or medicinal drugs like Adderal and Ritalin, before bed time. Also, this affects people that are usually very tired before they go to sleep; twitching happens because the mind finds it difficult to keep up with the sleep levels.

According to speculation, this happens when you’re dreaming in your sleep because you’re not completely asleep in that moment.

Other evolutionary beliefs claim that this jerking of the body happens because our body tries to awaken our ancestors before they fall out of bushes.

For instance, when your mind is really stressed, it starts all over again and you’ll wake up to a burst of chemical substances. However, this does not affect your health in any way but it’s definitely not a cool feeling to have.

Furthermore, some other people are of the opinion that twitches can be an early symptom of Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s mind damage or nerve harm. Nevertheless, this is for only critical conditions of twitching and jerking.
